Mercedes-Benz recently delivered the first batch of its eActros electric delivery trucks to its suppliers. The all-electric delivery truck represents Mercedes’ commitment to its EV transition. The German automaker has been focused on its electrification efforts having built its first charging hub in the United States. The next goal for Mercedes-Benz is to expand its network of charging stations throughout the Southeastern US. While the transition to EVs is still in its early stages, automakers like Mercedes are propelling the transition forward with new additions like charging stations and electric delivery trucks. We’ll take a look at the eActros EV trucks and see what plans Mercedes has with them.

Mercedes-Benz Delivers First eActros Units

Mercedes-Benz recently delivered the first batch of its eActros trucks to its suppliers. The eActros is an all-electric transport truck made for long-distance delivery. Created with sustainability in mind, the eTruck serves as yet another achievement in Mercedes’ EV transition. The automaker continues to offer EVs like the EQS and EQE, but by targeting a larger source of carbon emissions with truck delivery, Mercedes can further reduce its carbon footprint. About its eActros trucks, Mercedes-Benz Trucks CEO Karin Rådström said:

“Electric trucks can already cover the majority of delivery routes over short and medium distances,” said Karin Rådström. “We want to leave the smallest possible carbon footprint across the entire value chain. We are happy that many of our logistics partners are now switching to the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros and driving the transformation of the industry forward with us.”

Mercedes’ eActros trucks will initially be used for delivery to and from its supplier customers. The automaker will utilize a service it developed called Electrified Logistics Accelerated Consulting. This service will provide Mercedes-Benz with a solid foundation for its electric trucks, which it will then share with other customers. Chargers built at Mercedes’ plant will recharge the electric delivery trucks as they are unloaded, optimizing turnaround time. Mercedes’ overall goal is to electrify its supply chain and reduce its carbon emissions to zero. Based on recent efforts, it’s clear the German automaker is honing in on its goal.
