EQS Spotted At Nürburgring

Last week (Sept 18), we discussed all of the exciting new features that were shown for the EQS, but only in the interior. This week, however, we’ve got some shots of that smokin’ hot electrified body. Now that the 2021 S-Class finally made its dramatic entrance in the automotive world, the company can put all of its concentration on its all-electric twin, so it can put up a good fight against rivals the Tesla Model S and the upcoming BMW i7. Recent spy shots that were captured witnessed the technologically advanced EV performing some high-speed testing at the Nürburgring racing track.

On some parts of the car, the usual heavy plastic cover-up was peeled away and revealed more of the design lines and creases. Just as we suspected, it will definitely be a curvaceous little beaut and draw considerable styling tips from its concept.

Although the Mercedes EQS Vision concept, which was presented at last year’s Geneva showcase as a four-door sedan, the production version will actually be a more functional five-door hatchback. The pop-out door handles and slightly curved doors created help in making its profile look more clean and refined, especially with its well-fitted headlights and taillights. In the same vein as the S-Class, the EQS will be a technological sensation, with the screen filling up an extensive amount of space within the cabin. As seen in the company’s teaser video, we can also anticipate a screen fixed within the grille for the holographic headlamps.

The automaker has still not given the public a full viewing of the interior, but Mercedes enthusiasts should be thrilled to know that there will be just as much room as their swanky S model, even with the EQS having a shorter wheelbase.

The environmentally-friendly hatchback will piggyback on Mercedes’s most recent modular electric building design, with the power given to one electric motor on the front axle while the other at the rear for all-wheel-drive. In the Vision EQS, this arrangement makes up 469 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque combined, boosting the electric sedan from 0-62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. We’re hoping that Mercedes keeps its promise in revealing the EQS by next year, though the car’s chief engineer recently said that there was a possibility that it wouldn’t enter production until 2022 and go on sale for the 2023 model year.

Mercedes-Benz of Washington

Although the wait for the electrified EQS may take a while, Mercedes-Benz of Washington currently has a wide variety of premium vehicles that are just as sporty and nearly as technologically advanced as the EQS. We recommend considering the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG® C Roadster for drivers who crave something fast, as its horsepower pushes an amazing 550 horsepower with 502 lb-ft of torque. For those who are looking for something more tech-savvy, we recommend the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4MATIC® SUV, as it offers features like active-brake, blind-spot, and lane-keeping assist.
