Mercedes-Benz Provides New AMG® Vision With Its Latest Concept
Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG®
Mercedes-Benz is providing the Midas touch with its electric supercar, scheduled for production in 2025. Luckily enough, we’ll be able to get a preview of this concept, sooner rather than later. The preview is set for Thursday, (May 19), and before this, we already have a basic idea of the car’s shape owing to a new teaser that the company’s designer has just released.
Gorden Wagener, the current design boss of Mercedes-Benz shared on his personal Instagram account a very sleek and sexy, mid-engine type of sports car shape with an extensive teardrop rear end. The shape of the back end mirrors a lot like that of the car company’s Vision EQXX concept, particularly with what appears to be a highly identical light cluster design. More than likely, this car will have a light bar, of full-width, in the back and will lengthen onto the side of the car.
The shape of the front end looks a bit peculiar, completely different from any Mercedes or AMG® model of the present day or even older. Alternatively, it does have minute similarities to the vintage Porsche 914 of the 1970s, making us even more intrigued as to how it actually looks due to the odd strange profile.
On the other hand, the side of the vehicle isn’t as curious, as it has a rather traditional appearance for a two-door mid-engined sports car, even though there isn’t really a need for room behind the passenger compartment for a regular gasoline engine. We’re still not so sure just how many doors it has, but so far, it looks like a regular two-door vehicle.
Wagener doesn’t reveal too much about the concept in his post, except that it is “an all-electric performance show car.” Autocar quoted Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, who at the Final Times’ Future of the Car Summit said:
“Next week, we will show what we think the electric performance world will look like when it’s made by AMG®. That’s hot off the press for you today, so stay tuned for some announcements that we will make next week. We will give you a glimpse of AMG® performance as all-electric.”
There isn’t any word yet on the car’s specifications, but we’re certain that this information will be revealed on May 19, along with the actual concept. Additionally, Mercedes-AMG® is toying with a plug-in hybrid sports car (on a limited series). Dubbed the One, has already been revealed and is scheduled to enter production this year. It’s plausible that the upcoming announcement will also involve information about both cars.
