The 2021 Mercedes GLA Makes An Entrance With 302-HP AMG® 35 and Car Wash Function
The 2021 Mercedes GLA debuts with some major changes. From the outside looking in, it may appear that the only changes on the new model are on the exterior front. On the contrary, one look inside will change quickly change your belief system, and you’ll see that it’s gone through some major changes.
To start, the GLA exterior features have been considerably revised as the new model is 0.6 inches shorter and the wheelbase is 1.1 inches longer. The most significant modification is perhaps the height of the vehicle, which is 4.1 inches higher than previous models. Overall, it has a much huskier look and a presence that commands attention.
Car Wash Function
A highlighting feature is the Car Wash function. Upon activation, it folds the mirrors and closes all windows, including the sunroof. In addition to this, the rain sensor is temporarily deactivated so that it won’t trigger the windshield wipers while the climate control automatically switches to air-recirculation mode. If the vehicle has a 360-degree camera system, an image of the front is shown onto the screen to assist the driver in maneuvering the vehicle in the car wash.
Extra Room
One of the major highlights of the model is the much-needed legroom. Rear passengers will enjoy space for their elbows, shoulders, and legs. They can also adjust the back with the 40:20:40-split-folding seats. Additionally, the backrest can be altered in a way that can make more room for large cargo.
Engine
The GLA model is a front-wheel-drive with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. It has 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It also has a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine is able to reach 60 mph in 8.6 seconds with 130 mph. For an upgrade, it can be hooked up to an all-wheel-drive system for the GLA 250 4MATIC® model.
Additionally, if you want something with a bit more kick, upgrade to the AMG® GLA 35. This model has 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. It comes particularly with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox with 4MATIC® and can go 155 mph in 5 seconds.

This model has a combined fuel economy of 27 MPG. It has 208 horsepower at 5500 rpm, and a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder engine, all at the incredibly low price of about $34,000, (plus destination fee).
