The 2022 Mercedes C-Class Has New Tech and a Smokin’ Design

At long last, the luxury German automaker, Mercedes-Benz has revealed its highly anticipated 2022 C-class sedan. This car is one of the best-selling vehicles in the car maker’s lineup and it’s already proving that it has more tricks up its sleeve with a major revamp involving a sportier body, bigger interior space, and a slew of developed technologies that were originally introduced on this year’s S-Class. The 2022 C 300 and C 300 4MATIC® C-class models are set to roll in North American dealerships by early 2022. There is no word yet on the price of these models.

The upcoming sedan’s wheelbase is 1.0 inches longer than the forerunner’s. At the same time, the body is 2.5 inches longer, 0.4 wider, and 0.4 shorter. Cargo space remains the same, however, the headroom and legroom in the backseats have increased by 0.5 inches and 0.8 inches accordingly.

The 2022 C 300 and C 300 4MATIC® are geared with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that creates an energetic 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. These numbers make it possible for it to keep up with the competition such as the Audi A4, BMW 3-series, and Genesis G70. The newest C-class modes involve the brand’s 48-volt electric generator EQ Boost system, which has the ability of tacking on 20 horses with 148 lb-ft of torque. The company says that the engine is 10 to 15 percent more capable than the previous 4-cylinder without the hybrid assist. A 9-speed automatic is the only transmission choice. AMG® models that are more powerful, together with coupe and cabriolet variants are expected sometime after.

The design of the upcoming C-class takes plenty of notes for the miniature A-class, and the latest map doesn’t shy away from the somewhat bulbous back end of the sedan of the previous generation. A more pristine, and sharp front end and refined profile only enhance the aesthetics, doing well in dueling it out with the BMW and Audi.

The most significant changes that will be seen within the interior reflect the more minimalist style that was in the 2021 S-class. Front seat passengers will be welcomed to an 11.9-inch touchscreen that has engulfed the center of the dashboard, and also moved up the three air vents above it. Simultaneously, the center console touchpad and controller knob that was in the previous C model has been replaced with the cleaner center stack that doesn’t feature as many physical buttons. The screen utilizes the newest version of the brand’s MBUX technology, which Mercedes-Benz says has more processing power than before.

The physical controls still reside encompass knobs and buttons for drive mode, camera view, vehicle settings, hazard lights, and audio volume. Additionally, there is a fingerprint scanner meant for logging into individual driver profiles. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster resides behind the driver’s steering wheel.

Standard comforts include 18-inch wheels, heated front seats, a sunroof, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions. Optional features involve a head-up display, additional driver-assistance systems, 19-inch wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and AMG® body styling and interior trim.

Mercedes-Benz has yet to announce pricing, but it’s been estimated that the rear-wheel-drive version of the 2022 C 300 will have a starting price of around $43,000, (plus destination fee), while the all-wheel-drive C 300 4MATIC® will reach around $45,000, (plus destination fee). Both should arrive in North American showrooms in early 2022.
