Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, AMG®, is set to launch its inaugural all-electric performance SUV, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG® EQE SUV. This model is built upon the foundation of the recently released EQE SUV, which arrived at a more budget-friendly price point earlier this year. The EQE SUV itself is based on the EQE sedan, a scaled-down version of the luxurious EQS.

The new AMG® version of the EQE SUV will start at $109,300*, aligning its pricing more closely with that of the EQS SUV. The EQE SUV was introduced in three variants, each offering affordable pricing: the rear-wheel-drive EQE 350+ and the all-wheel-drive EQE 350 4MATIC®, both starting at $79,050 (including $1,150 for destination) and the more powerful EQE 500 4MATIC®, priced at $90,650*.

The AMG® EQE SUV will come in two trims—the standard version and the top-tier Pinnacle trim. Furthermore, an optional performance package will be available, transforming the vehicle’s handling from quick to race-ready. The Race Start boost within the AMG® Dynamic Plus Package elevates power output to an impressive 677 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, enabling a top speed of 149 mph and an acceleration time from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The base model features AMG® electric motors on the front and rear axles, ensuring 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive capability.

The initial version of the EQE SUV is equipped with a 90.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, powering the EQE 350+ with a single motor on the rear axle, producing 288 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. For the 350 4MATIC®, an additional drive unit on the front axle boosts torque to 564 lb-ft. The base EQE SUV achieves a 0-60 mph acceleration in 6.3 seconds, while the 4MATIC® variant accomplishes it in 6.2 seconds. The 4MATIC® model is 335 pounds heavier than its rear-wheel-drive counterpart, and the EQE SUV offers a range of up to 279 miles.

Although AMG® has not disclosed specific details regarding the car’s weight, battery capacity, and range, the AMG® EQE SUV will feature distinctive AMG®-specific elements, such as the grille with chrome vertical struts and aerodynamic air diffusers, showcasing its AMG® identity. Various exterior design packages, including the AMG® Night and Plus packages, will be available, featuring black gloss accents, black chrome, and 21- and 22-inch wheels.

The base model’s interior will be equipped with the impressive MBUX Hyperscreen, spanning the entire dashboard and comprising three OLED screens. Other standard features include a panoramic roof, advanced safety features, parking and driving assistance systems, Nappa leather upholstery, and MB-Tex/microfiber with red contrast stitching for the AMG® variant. Customers will have the option to choose the AMG® Performance steering wheel, available in different Nappa leather and material combinations.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG® EQE SUV will be available at U.S. dealerships starting in August 2023. It’s worth noting that while searching online, confusion may arise with the similarly named Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.

As for the pricing, the AMG® EQE SUV’s standard trim starts at $109,300*, and the top-trim Pinnacle variant is priced at $112,600*. Both prices exclude the $1,150 destination fee. Among its primary competitors in the electric SUV market are the BMW iX ($84,100), Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV ($104,400*), and the Tesla Model X ($98,490 or $108,490 for the performance Plaid).
