The Latest On The High-Class 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

May 3rd, 2023 by

With SUVs being the preferred choice for most buyers nowadays, Mercedes-Benz‘s best-selling vehicle will either be the GLC or GLE, contingent on the year. However, for those getting on in years, the ideal 3-point star model still seems to be the E-Class midsize sedan, which is considered by many to be the descendant of the legendary W124.

The sixth-generation E-Class for 2023 has just been unveiled by Mercedes. Here are the essential details you should know about the upcoming model.

The E-Class Is Not An EV…Yet

The sixth-generation E-Class, which Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled, is being promoted as “a bridge between the worlds” as the automaker plans to shift to all-electric vehicles by 2030. However, the new E-Class is still a combustion vehicle separate from the all-electric EQE.

The E-Class for 2023 is more of an evolution than a revolution since Mercedes-Benz is in the process of transitioning to fully electric models. Therefore, there is no need for significant mechanical changes. However, the E-Class is still a top contender in the midsize luxury car category, and its evolutionary improvements continue to impress.

The new electronics architecture brings significant changes, with the luxury German automaker promising a “comprehensive digital experience.”

The E-Class Sedan Still Has Its Classic Shape

The E-Class retains its traditional three-box sedan shape, unlike some manufacturers experimenting with new designs. However, it’s likely that Mercedes-Benz will introduce other versions of the E-Class in the future.

The company has introduced two versions of the new E-Class: the E 350 4MATIC® and the E 450 4MATIC®. The E 350 4MATIC® features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine with an output of 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is 22 lb-ft more than the previous generation. The E 450 4MATIC®, on the other hand, is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that generates 375 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 12 hp compared to the previous generation.

The E 350 4MATIC® and E 450 4MATIC® engines are both equipped with mild-hybrid technology, which employs a small electric motor to provide additional low-end torque and reduce turbo lag. They are also paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Noteworthy Driving Features

The new E-Class maintains the aerodynamic efficiency that has been a hallmark of the model for generations. The 2023 model has a drag coefficient of 0.23, which is not relatively as low as the EQS, but still among the most aerodynamic of any combustion car. Additionally, the E-Class can be equipped with rear-axle steering, allowing for a turning circle that is 35.4 inches tighter.

Staying Connected

An option for the E-Class is the MBUX Hyperscreen, which comes with new features to enhance connectivity for drivers and passengers. Third-party apps like TikTok and Angry Birds can be installed. Additionally, a video camera is available as an option, allowing occupants to take selfies and join Zoom meetings when the car is not in motion.

In addition, the MBUX system will feature a “Just Talk” function that can be activated, enabling drivers to give commands to the car without the need to say “Hey, Mercedes.”

AI Implementation

Mercedes-Benz plans on introducing AI-powered routines that will analyze the usage of the vehicle’s comfort features and perform them automatically in certain situations. However, this feature is not yet available. At launch, owners can activate pre-set routines or create their own, such as setting the seat heating and ambient lighting to warm orange when the temperature drops below 50 Fahrenheit.

Cost

The pricing for the new E-Class has not been announced by the manufacturer yet. However, we anticipate that it will be slightly higher than the current model, which begins at $59,250 (plus destination fee) for the E 350 4MATIC® and $65,550 (plus destination fee) for the E 450 4MATIC®.
