The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 And Its Hyperscreen Set The Tone For Car Craftsmanship

Mercedes-Benz’s EQS line is the peak representative of the company’s ingenious and creative talents when it comes to its incredible craftsmanship for automobiles and electric vehicles. This luxury automaker is also highly adept at implementing high-quality technologies inside of its vehicles, especially with the Hyperscreen display featured in the EQS 580.

EQS 580

Just one look at the EQS 580 is enough to make a grown man cry, as this beau is quite a sight to see. Its sexy sloped shape is owed to a significant amount of aerodynamic testing, which brought about a slippery 0.20 drag coefficient, one of the best in the car industry. The car has standard 21-inch wheels, flaunting exterior accents from the AMG® Line that add a little more oomph to the bodywork, with a teardrop silhouette to bring the whole look together.

This EQS model gets its life from a pair of AC permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors that provide a spectacular output of 516 horsepower and 631 lb-feet of torque to all four of its wheels, while a 107.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack is responsible for 340 miles of range.

This car can recharge at 9.6 kW on AC or 200 kW on a DC fast charger, the latter of the two which allows the battery pack to reach from a 10 percent charge to 100 in just half an hour. The automaker has also teamed up with Electrify America to give new owners two years of complimentary charging at their stations.

The large sedan drives on air suspension that’s matched with adaptive dampers for an improved range of adjustability. Rear-axle steering is also included, and the system has up to 10 degrees of steering angle to lessen the car’s turning circle during maneuvers at low speeds. With speeds above 37 MPH, the rear wheels steer concurrent with the front wheels to allow more responsive handling and augment high-speed stability.

Lastly, the EQS flagship carries an extensive range of safety gadgets such as Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist, as well as a surround-view camera system that makes it easier for drivers to position themselves in tight parking spots.

Hyperscreen

While all of these features are indeed impressive, the reason that we’re all really here is Mercedes-Benz’s awe-inspiring Hyperscreen. This luxury centerpiece involves the holy trinity of displays: a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster in front of the driver, a 17.7-inch OLED center infotainment display, and an extra 12.3-inch touchscreen meant for the front passenger.

The German car manufacturer’s most current MBUX software manages vehicle information and has Apple CarPlay / Android Auto integration, along with a standard Burmester 3D surround audio system. Overall, the Hyperscreen and MBUX systems work well together, providing a fast input response, a progressive menu layout, and stunning graphics.
