The New Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV Is The Ultimate Combination Of Luxury and Power
Mercedes-Benz has recently announced the launch of its latest electric SUV, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, built on the foundation of its exceptional EQS SUV. The new edition comes with luxurious features, such as specially designed cup holders to securely hold champagne flutes for buyers who enjoy the finer things in life.
It’s clear that the vehicle incorporates numerous iconic design elements from Maybach’s rich history. These include a two-tone paint job, impressive wheels, a traditional hood ornament, and even a grill with intricate slats, although the SUV is electric and doesn’t require a radiator.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV boasts a lavish interior, complete with wooden paneling and front-and-rear massaging seats that offer superior comfort. The dashboard features three large screens, with one dedicated to the instrument cluster, center stack, and passenger. As a first for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, this EQS edition uses vegetable-tanned leather that incorporates coffee bean shells as the tanning agents. The luxury automaker also emphasizes its leather selection process, assuring consumers that its “leather supply chain” does not contribute to the endangerment or loss of natural forests and is free from illegal deforestation.
The Maybach iteration of the EQS maintains the same exterior size as the standard Mercedes-Benz model, but the powertrain has been significantly upgraded. It boasts an AWD, dual-motor system that produces 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, a notable improvement from the standard Mercedes-Benz model that can reach up to 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque. The Maybach version also offers a higher electric range, with a provisional WLTP range of 372 miles on a single charge. It can reach a top speed of 130 mph and go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
Despite the impressive powertrain of the Maybach EQS, the driving experience might not be a top priority for Maybach buyers. Typically, Maybach owners prefer to be driven in the back seat rather than driving themselves. Fortunately, the back seat of this vehicle is a luxurious place to be, equipped with features such as ventilation, massaging functions, and neck and shoulder heating. Opting for the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus adds a calf massager and more legroom as the front passenger seat automatically moves forward when the rear seat reclines. For added convenience, there’s even an optional refrigerator compartment, folding rear tables, and a special compartment designed to hold the champagne flutes.
Compared to the standard EQS, the Maybach version appears to be a deserving carrier of the Maybach name. It boasts a notable boost in range and power, as well as a plethora of luxury amenities that would please even the most flamboyant oil tycoon. Although pricing details have not been revealed yet, it’s reasonable to assume that this vehicle will be priced at a premium.
