Becoming effective by January of next year (2021), Mercedes-Benz parent company, Daimler will have Dimitris Psillakis as Head of Marketing and Sales for North America and CEO of MBUSA. The upcoming Mercedes leader was chosen by The Daimler Board of Management. Following the selection, Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG made the announcement. Seeger is in charge of Marketing and Sales, and it is her that Psillakis will have to report to.

Psillakis was also elected as the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, succeeding Nicholas Speeks, who served for more than 40 years. Speeks plans on hunting for opportunities outside of Daimler, meanwhile, Psillaks will be established in Atlanta, GA.

“Dimitris is a proven leader who successfully expanded the growth of Mercedes-Benz in key markets around the world,” said Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, responsible for Marketing and Sales. “I am confident Dimitris will continue to advance our North American operations during this time of unprecedented transformation. I would also like to thank Nick Speeks for his outstanding commitment and engagement around the globe over the past decades, and wish him all the best for the future.”

In this new position, Psillakis will take on his new assignments for Mercedes-Benz Cars in North America and Canada. He will be in charge of more than 1,600 employees at MBUSA, and will also be responsible for more than 380 dealer partners throughout the States. On top of this, Psillakis will be responsible for an additional 1,200 employees and nearly 60 sanctioned dealers throughout Canada. For the rest of the year, the new marketing leader will continue his role as president of Mercedes-Benz Canada and the successor to his current position will be appointed later down the road. It was 1992 when Psillakis first climbed aboard with Mercedes-Benz Hellas (MBH), a Greek subsidiary, as a management trainee and eventually crawled his way up through the ranks, ultimately earning his promotion as general manager in passenger vehicles in 2001. By 2009, the then general manager made the transition to the automaker’s plant in Brazil to act as the managing director for vehicles in South America and Vans Sales Brazil. In the six years ensuing this, Psillakis’s team was able to increase the sales volume by triple their original amount and even reached the top spot in Brazil. Then in 2015, this hotshot moved to Mercedes-Benz Korea (MBK) to take over as President and CEO. Under his management, the market in South Korea grew to become the 5th largest globally for Mercedes-Benz Cars and while succeeding in top-ratings for customer satisfaction.
