Mercedes-Benz will partner with American chain Buc-ee’s to launch a network of EV charging stations. The German automaker will collaborate with the Texas-based travel center to build charging hubs at Buc-ee’s locations in the South and Southeast regions of the United States. According to Mercedes, about 30 Buc-ee’s sites should have fully operational charging stations by the end of 2024. This all comes as part of Mercedes’s plan to transition toward EVs. Along with producing EVs like the EQB, EQE, and EQS, the automaker must also ensure EV owners have access to chargers no matter where they go. We’ll see how this new collaboration will benefit Mercedes-Benz as well as what it means for the future of EVs.

Mercedes-Benz & Buc-ee’s Collaborate On EV Chargers

Mercedes-Benz will be collaborating with Buc-ee’s to install a network of EV charging sites in the South and Southeast regions of the United States. The German automaker and American travel center chain will partner to provide EV owners with greater access to charging infrastructure. This partnership comes off the back of Mercedes’ larger plan to move toward an electric future. About the collaboration, CEO of Mercedes-Benz HPC NA Andrew Cornelia said,

“Mercedes-Benz HPC North America’s collaboration with Buc-ee’s represents an important moment in our pursuit of a national charging network that sets a new standard in both convenience and quality.”

Mercedes-Benz recently announced its plan to build out more than 400 charging hubs by 2027 using the Mercedes-Benz HPC North America subsidiary. As an overarching goal to create more EV infrastructure, the automaker will partner with ChargePoint to provide EV charging solutions. ChargePoint serves as an effective partner in that it deals in solar and battery storage meaning they utilize renewable energy. Together with ChargePoint, Mercedes will pave a path forward to a greener automotive industry.

Buc-ee’s will be the first location to receive additional charging stations. A popular tourist destination with a cult-like following, Buc-ee’s will allow consumers to charge their vehicles while having an array of foods and goods to sort through as they travel through the southern United States. According to Mercedes, we can expect about 30 hubs to be operational by the end of 2024.
